So basically the Dragon Disciple's breath is much different to that of a true dragon because on Amia their blood is merely activated rather than being inherited from a parent. I think we're going to have to agree to disagree regarding the core rules of Dragon Apotheosis, but there was one more thing I wanted to ask about Dragon Disciple breath.

I noticed Selmak said there was going to be a fix for Dragon Disciple breath. I'm wondering if that includes the removal of the two-round cast time?

We can agree to disagree if you're okay with being wrong and as long as you don't use it as an excuse to break any character creation rules on Amia!

The idea is that each breath will have its own entry in the spells 2DA with individual cone effects set. Therefore there won't be any need for ActionCastFakeSpellAtObject, which is the cause of the extended cast time. Instant barbecue flamed goodness.

Sounds good!

I think Naiv hit the nail on the head in saying this thread's gone on a bit too long.

I think that's because you seem to have this insatiable need to stick only to core rules and how you read them, despite the DMs telling you exactly how it works. :P

I have a Dragon Disciple with 20 DD levels and neither I nor she believe that she's a half-dragon (or anything more than that, despite that she's done twice as many rituals as the required 10). There isn't a whole lot of expanding on the Dragon Disciple class in core DnD, but Amia has done a marvelous job of giving it some life. Some parts of the class have been ruled or modified by DMs and since this is a persistent world we as players can't just say, "I don't agree with you so I'm ignoring your rules."

Although I do look forward to that fix!

I was never suggesting that anyone ignore the rules or the custom lore. Obviously each server has its own policy on lore and sticking to it as much as possible benefits the roleplay for everyone and keeps harmony within the community.

And hey, at least Dragon Disciple breath isn't once per day. That's core rules too, and it's weaker than it is here. Lore translates to NWN a lot better than gameplay rules.

Take the RDD frontloading, add to it the immunities, add to it the boni to Int/Cha/Con divide that by the requirement to become a shifter x that by the fact that for all intents and purposes a Shifter changes into the creature and isn't some bastard 1/36th breed and you have an answer.

Simply put Shifters are better dragon-kin than a DD could ever hope to be.

Wait wait, But dragons canonically have a cooldown. This makes no sense. Shifters are technically superior to true dragons then *shrugs*

Incidently, why are DDs so front-loaded, especially seeing as the class was recently re-designed? Then again, I suppose its no different to the Paladin really.

Because rebuilds. It's easy to change abilities. It's not easy to change the fact that charcters are given an inherent stat bonus.

You know the Harper Scout/PDK issue? Like that, but people actually took the class.
