I'm wondering if the Knight Commander class could be taken to represent a character who is not knightly, but is a commander. I'm asking because I'd quite like to make a kobold and I'd quite like to make a Knight Commander, but the idea of a kobold knight is absurd no matter how you slice it, yet a kobold who takes a commanding role seems much more reasonable.

Basically I'm asking, what are the limits on how one roleplays the class?

To me its more a Military Commander then a "Knight in shining armor" Commander.

Remember, Knights are not Paladins. Blackguards can be Knights. Normal fighters too.

Knights are basically people that are in a position of leadership and are generally martial though even a mage can be a knight if he is given the title and authority.

Some knights were also poor...like Templars..when it came to individual wealth, giving it all to their order thus making the order rich but the individual knights poor.

At least this is my feeling on it.

So yeah, a Kobold Knight Commander would be fine to me as long as you can meet the requirements.

I think the description is all you need to respect.

That Whore of a DM wrote:
"Whether it is leading the charge on a group of regal knights or cutting down fleeing victims, the Knight Commander stands forefront with a mastery over leadership, co-ordination and discipline. The Knight Commander is a shining example of why a handful of well-organised soldiers can best an army of rabble, gaining abilities to bolster his troops and control the battlefield with expert prowess. While such commanders come from many walks of life, all possess natural talent at direction and tactical supremacy."

Be it about guerilla tactics or traditional knightly warfare, as long as your character is the one organising the real action, it should be okay.

Knight=/=Paladin so no worries so long as you meet the pre-reqs.

Otherwise, it works pretty well for a traditional Kurtulmak fearing Kobold. :D Very "One-For-All" as it were.

You're an arse, Opustus.

Aside from me being a whore, he is correct. A Knight Commander is a leader of men, so anybody with a capacity for leading and a mind for tactics qualifies.

Like Christopher Lee. He's a mage and a knight!
