I never played an orog because I hate their religion.... it's really only fun when you're drunk.

Anyone got some inside info on other deities that like orogs besides gruumsh? If I make an orog, he's gonna be religious, and I don't mean something silly like Orcus (silly cause... he hates everyone) or Corellon Larethian (silly cause he don't like orcs much).

Lol, or maybe that's the meaning of my orog's life: searching for a meaning. BAM it's a go.

Ghaunadaur, maybe. His dogma is suited for any outcast, especially ones who live in the Underdark, and his fixation on apex predators would fit right in with the orcish might is right mindset.

I think Ghaunadaur is complex enough to keep my attention when I'm sober. Good suggestion.

I just found the goofiest orc lore tidbit: there is an orc deity named Dukagsh that rules over an elite group of orcs called "Scro" . Lol, come on.... it's "Orcs" backwards, people. Freaking trolls making this stuff up.

There's plenty of orc gods of the Forgotten Realms to choose from as well:

Ilneval would be the patron god of the Orogs, kind of a Red Knight type god of battle strategy. But if thats not your thing, there's Shargaas, an orc god with lots of portfolios, thieves, darkness, assassins, cold, undeath etc which gives a lot of options for followers. There's also Yurtrus the orc god of death which could be interesting to follow.

I don't think Dukagsh is in the Forgotten Realms setting, looks like something out of Spelljammer.

stupid wiki had me thinking Ilneval was the patron god of half-orcs.

Thanks for the link. I like the stuff in there better. Ilneval would be more culturally acceptable and not as boneheaded as Gruumsh. That's a good suggestion.

The reading I did on this subject was a little conflicted. The Faiths and Pantheons book does mention that Ilneval is the patron of half-breeds like orc/ogres (with Orogs in parenthesis). However, the Races of Faerun book says that Orogs generally forgot about all the other orc deities after moving into the UD and that most Orog's care little for actual religion.

There's also Luthic, the supposed underdog of the Orcish pantheon, and just a little bit more reasonable. But I guess her fanclub consists only of females.

No matter your choice of deity/deities, I might just bring out my female Orog Luthic cleric for a bit of chitchat and maybe adventuring. (I haven't played on Amia in a year, but she's one of two characters I still care about. I think your wizard adventured with her once. Pic http://www.amiaworld.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=66931.)

Gonna play out this Moander thing with my Very silly Orog, Choggokk. When I'm done with him, I may experiment with The Elder Eye. Just about all the Gruumsh and other Orc deities are kinda' "meh" to me.
