| Post subject: | How much Bard is enough Bard? |
When planning Bard heavy builds, what milestones and perks are at what level? Obviously Lasting Winspiration is important at Bard 20, and you've got the Bonus Feat at 23. That sweet 6 AC is at 25, but has the hefty perform 75 requirement. Is there anything else to take into consideration when deciding how much is enough? I'm not super knowledgeable with Dispel mechanics, so some insight on that would be nice as well. |

Dispel has been changed to work off of character level now. That being said, 20 is the minimum I'd ever consider for a proper bard build, lasting inspiration is just too good to forgo it. Else I heavily suggest going 25 bard. Getting another point of AC and the bonus skillpoints from there as well as the increased spellduration is extremely good, especially since your whole party will benefit from it. The perform requirement may seem daunting at first, but really isn't hard to reach. 33 perform and +3 from charisma will get you to 36, add an epic skill fokus perform and you're at 46. If you get your hand on epic perform gloves you are done with gearing perform. (And else you can just distribute it over gear easily enough) 25 bard/5 other (knight commander works excellently here) is a good one. |

With casters, it really gets more comfortable playing them with higher levels, spells lasting longer and not being hit by dispel so hard. The important levels for bard are: 11: +2 AC/AB/Dmg from song, Improved Invisibility and Extended Haste. 16: +2 AB, +3 Dmg and +5 AC from song, Mass haste, Extended Imp. Invis/Haste and GMW. 20: All the previous stuff + Lasting Inspiration. 26: +1 more AC to song, 2 extra epic feats and just general increase in CL. 30: +1 More AC to song and 3 extra epic feats and 30 Caster Levels. Bard of course being a class that's fairly strong simply going pure 30 levels in it, but the main difference going further than 16 is comfort. Spells last longer, you don't get dispelled as easily, Bard song goes from 1 minute to 10 minutes and more songs/day. |
