If I want to use traps, pretty effectively, how much set trap skill should I have?

It really depends on what you mean by effectively. NWN wiki lists what skill levels you need to set certain traps.

...and here's the link: http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Set_trap Basically 45 set trap will allow you to do all of them (outside of combat)
