Anyone have a good canon source? The Mosnter Manual is bare-bones lorewise, and I can't find anything deeper.

(I need catgirl help! Tormak, I choose you!)

You should get the PDF of Dragon #326. It has a lot of detail about Rakshasa.

Ooo, that's good stuff, Tunes. Thanks much!

Anyone else? Anything relating to Forgotten Realms specifically?

Sadly, I don't know if there's much more than what I've posted and what the FR wiki page for the Rakshasa has.

Apparently their is a book called 'Complete-Guide-to-Rakshasas' that exists that may have more. How good it actually is I dunno though.

If it's anything like Complete Guide to Fey I recently read, it's garbage! <.<

I've read it and it seems like a lot of it is not Forgotten Realms stuff. In that book, it says that rakshasa were the first creatures in existence, predating even the gods. They worship a king called Ravana who, if I recall correctly, is the reincarnated (and deified) version of the most powerful rakshasa. There are different 'breeds' of rakshasa that have different skill sets. Black-furred ones (I believe zakharan or something similar) are their nonmagical scouts.

I used to know more but it's been a few years.

Naztharune are the scout assassins. Don't think there are any female rakshasa though.

There's female rakshasa models and female shifters turn into one when they transform, so.

According to the AD&D 2nd edition Monster Manual, female rakshasa are called rakshasi. There's only 1 page for the entire entry on "Rakshasa", though.
