This is something of a side-track from the "immunity to fear" discussion. Paladins, druids and some other classes and PRC's get immunity to poison and/or disease. But how does this work roleplaywise? And how do druids (for example) aquire such?

Druid immune cells share the druid's shapeshifting talent. Perfectly adaptable. :P

We're just better than you.

(We train by developing resistance to place strength of will over body. When I train other PCs I force teach them to put their bodies through poisoning and diseases, like swamplands or wild almonds, foxglove, etc.)

The way I see it, the immunity to poison/disease is based on adaptation or even magical influence in some regards. The immunities that a druid acquires could be more linked to their connection with nature and living off the land. They've had more experiences with poison and the like to have managed to adapt to it more effectively. And the poisons they haven't adapted to, naturally, become easier to deal with through their divine connection with nature.

As for monks, their immunities could still be similar, but more-so the fact that they have undergone intensive meditation and centering of their mind and body. This also eventually leads up to the other various immunities they gain as they gain their levels. Literally the focus on their own body, and increased control of what occurs within it, leading to an easier time dealing with something like sickness or disease. Mind you, of course, that none of this applies to supernatural diseases, as even the feat explains.

As for how it would likely work, just follow a lot of how it is initially formed, above, and go from there. Technically speaking, an immunity to poison would mean stuff like venomous snakes and spiders no longer really pose a threat in that regard. Alcohol would have no more effect on the body, either. Or, at least people CAN RP it that way, given that alcohol really is just a type of toxin that is introduced, like all drugs. As for the immunity to disease, this is fairly simple as it just means your character can't get sick through natural means. No more colds, flu, etc. But this isn't to say they are unaffected by something like Mummy Rot or Ghoul Fever, or even lycanthropy afflictions, as those are supernatural.

Hope this helps.

The only one that is magical is Diamond Body, the rest come from whatever mundane means the player or DM decides they do.

Venom Immunity (Ex)
At 9th level, a druid gains immunity to all poisons.

Purity of Body (Ex)
At 5th level, a monk gains immunity to all diseases except for supernatural and magical diseases.

Diamond Body (Su)
At 11th level, a monk gains immunity to poisons of all kinds.

Divine Health (Ex)
At 3rd level, a paladin gains immunity to all diseases, including supernatural and magical diseases.

Somewhat ironic then that you ought to lose your immunity to poisons due to your specialized focus.

It is the only way Mathus can get drunk, to be sure.

Monks have such extreme self-control that they are able to physically force the poison back out of their body, and to stop their own heart from pumping while still being able to fight.

No really, I'm pretty sure that's something that happened in one of the Cleric Quintet books.
