Can someone point me to info on portal rods and ley lines?
I think I've read a posting about them, but can't find it.

What I'm wondering ls:
Do ley lines/nodes exist outside of Amia?
Could the portal rod transport a person to the mainland of Faerun, if ley nodes existed there?
Is distance a limiting factor?
For example, would it be acceptable to say a PC portalled to Cormyr?

I can only speak intelligently to your second question: I know that ley line transport is known to function to the mainland, because I've done it in game lots of times.

Frozenfar, Edonil, and L'Obsul are all on the mainland.

As for the first question: Yes. Hence why you can portal to the mainland and Abyss and such! :3

As for the other two, I would wait for Tormak or a DM to give you more info. There are some PCs with knowledge, too, though. Tuomas, I think?

Oh right, Frozenfar's on the mainland. Thanks, that answers my main question then.

So I guess I'd still like to know: how widely are portal rods used? Do other cultures and countries use them? Will our portal rods take us to other locations on Faerun?

Top secret, no. But credit needs to be given to the folks who spent time and resources investigating it before it becomes standard, unsourced material like you wanted.

Oh, I know. I was jesting with that. Hence why I supported what you four had said. And that's not be saying DMs need supporting, either, so there's no miscommunication there. I simply didn't know what was or wasn't Public Knowledge.
