So here's a hopefully easy topic:
I was thinking earlier today about druids/shifters and mage familiars. What if a shifter wanted to become, say, a pixie and pretend to be a mage's familiar? Obviously the mage would know it's not their familiar, but would anyone else be able to tell? Specifically, could another mage realize it's not a familiar? Are there any 'signs' that make a familiar 'feel' like a familiar?

Familiars do not have any glow or mark or trait to distinguish them from their 'regular' kin. They do have their bond with the mage, but an intelligent shifter and an intelligent familiar would not appear to be any different.

That is more or less what I figured. Just wasn't sure if there was a way for a mage to have a lore check or something to go 'Egads! Dost thou not a familar! Begone, ye foul impersonator!' and such.
