The group trooped through Khem and into the Kelemvor Cathedral. Of most interest was Holy Brother Drusus Vel, Brother Calahan and the pale master Hojo.
Holy Brother Drusus Vel paused at the entrance to speak to the Gray Watch Squires posted in the main worship room. "Gentlemen! This is Hojo as you well know. We are going downstairs. Please give every courtesy to our guests." And Drusus indicated Lord Marcus Valis, Knight Captain Nimiwae and Lord Tuomas Valo.
Hojo was escorted into the anti-magic cell. Recently redone, the room is more comfortable than a jail cell despite the steel reinforced door with bars. After Hojo was searched and items taken by Knight Captain Nimiwae for safe keeping Drusus provided Hojo with shirt and trousers.
Within minutes Lord Hector was at the Cathedral along with a mob of people. From those having legitimate purpose, to the curious, to those with ill intent. The hall was flooded with bodies much to Drusus's chagrin.
He immediately called for Gary Watch Squire Guards and requested that they escort everyone except Lord Hector and Knight Captain Nimiwae out of the basement. Those that decided to linger that Drusus didn't know personally Drusus called for Gray Watch Squire Guards and requested them to escort those loitering completely out of the Cathedral entirely. These unknown individuals were asked to provide a letter of introduction addressed to the Holy Brother of the Cathedral. Since there was no way to know who had ill intent Drusus was better safe than sorry. And everyone who trooped down to the basement was suspect since only those escorted by the Gray Watch should have been allowed there.
The Kohlingen Defenders were singled out by Drusus and allowed to stay in the hallway.
Holy Brother Drusus’ requested that the Gray Watch Squire Guards only allow the following people downstairs:
Lord Marcus Valis
High Priestess Tee
Mr. Andrew Fryar
Knight Captain Nimiwae
Lord Hector
Detailed descriptions of these people is given as well as the allowance of Kohlingen Defender guards for their protection.
Drusus also requested that two guards be posted outside of the room that Hojo occupies. Drusus requested that the cell door only be opened by any of the Gray Watch. Drusus also requested that the guards report any conversations they hear. And if the conversation is started in a language other than common that it be stopped immediately and the visitor be escorted out. Drusus also requested that the guards prevent anyone from standing close enough for Hojo to reach with his arms. And absolutely nothing be handed to Hojo by anyone other than the Gray Watch personnel.
Drusus also informed everyone in the Cathedral about a human female shadow dancer by the name of Sana Veskin. He requests that anyone catching Sana in the Cathedral escort her outside. As she had repeatedly used shadows to gain access to Hojo clearly for nefarious reasons.
Drusus also requests that anyone seeing people /not/ part of the Gray Watch and the Cathedral that seem to be able to open locked doors be asked for the magical objects allowing them to do so. If they do not give the items then Drusus requests that they be escorted out of the Cathedral and reported to Father Merryhill and Holy Brother Drusus. As it is well known that unscrupulous people have been getting the magical devices restricted to Kelemvorites and handing them out like candy.
The only exception thus far is Lord Hector.
Finally, Drusus tells the Gray Watch and those in service to Kelemvor in the Cathedral the following:
“Our duty, brothers and sisters, is to see that all have a peaceful afterlife journey, and ensure that the bodies of the dead are buried safely and according to religious tradition.
We are holding Hojo since Hojo’s repeated deaths have done nothing to free those Hojo has defiled nor altered his unnatural life. We will do whatever we can to put the undead to eternal rest. This time it will be through surgery in a joint effort with our Kohlingen allies. I believe this is the only way to accomplish what we are tasked with by our Lord Kelemvor. I intend to do this as soon as possible.
I have learned that Hojo is faithless. This provides us with an opportunity to share our Lord Kelemvors truth. That death is a part of life. It is not an ending but a beginning. Not a punishment but a necessity. Hojo needs to know that death is an orderly process without deceit, concealment and randomness.
Yet remember that pale masters are dangerous and Hojo is no exception. There will be those who will attempt to free him before we do our duty. Be Vigilant brothers and sisters. Go with peace and certainty.”
