The dark rubble filled cave mouth loomed over the small gnome which stood at its opening in silent contemplation. After some time he reaches down and plucks a piece of rock on the ground and brings it to his nose for a sniff. He places it back down in the spot it was found. With a cautious but sure step he enters the cave to see what can be seen in the growing shadows of the cavern. No magical or natural fire is lit by the gnome as he descends into the blackness. A few minutes later all that can be heard from the cave is a faint echo of a light tapping of metal on rock which resonates briefly out of the opening.
Some time later he emerges again, holding a small pick axe and rope, which he tucks back into his belt. He stalks off back into the town looking for the one called Wilfire.
