THE CHURCH OF BANE AND TEMPLE OF SALANDRA, TREATY AND NON AGGRESSION.
This Treaty hereby signifies the continued neutrality and agreement of non aggression between the Church of Bane and The Temple of Salandra.
We the below signed commit ourselves to a stance of Non Aggression and Peace between our two Churches and declare this agreement official and long lasting upon this paper.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The details of this agreement are henceforth:
No Salandran will refuse medical aid to a Banite.
The Church of Bane won't ever attack the Salandran Temple, and vice versa.
No Salandran will get involved personally in any affair outside of medical aid, this includes attempting to hide/assist a person or persons from any party, be they Banite or otherwise. Overstepping this aforementioned act is overstepping Salandra's vows of Neutrality and as such makes them exempt from this Treaty, as such they are on their own.
No Banite will walk on Salandran soil with a weapon drawn, this act is clearly requested of all people who enter our sanctified soil.
No Banite or any person whatsoever will come onto our land seeking out a prisoner or runaway, any person who is in the care of our Clerics will be safe from recrimination or kidnap for the duration of their medical treatment, once they leave our ward, they are responsible for their own acts.
No Salandran will enter the Banite Temple or property to aid a captive with medical aid, in doing so he or she makes herself liable to trial and penalty by the Temple Mother and Senior Clerics and or Templars. All Patients are to be brought to our Temple and left in our ward.
Finally, the Neutrality of the Salandran Wards is to be observed at all times, regardless of who else may be in our care. If a Banite is in a recovery bed and a (for example) Church of Cyric member is in the adjacent bed, neutrality and peace will be observed, whoever is seen breaking this neutrality, be they Salandran, Banite or the third party, will be ejected from the Salandran Temple without further notice.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Signed this day in peace.
METALIEN SIKTH, Salandran Templar.
&
DARTHION ILLYS, Dread Inquisitor of Bane.

*Underneath Metalien Sikth makes a secondary notice aimed directly at all Salandran Personel*
All Salandrans are hereby to take notice of this following request.
No Salandran is to get involved in any patient's personal life and/or act in a manner that is dictated as overstepping Salandra's stance of nuetrality.
This has been increasing noticably of late and will no longer be held acceptable. We are nuetrals and will not get involved outside of medical aid. This includes breaking a prisoner from jail or hiding a person or persons.
The Temple Mother, as always, will have the right to overthrown this order.
In Salandra's Name.
Senior Templar, Metalien Sikth.

Weston has not yet had a chance to see these notices. Although he will in due time. Surely he will have something to say to these.
One was delievered to him after many had already been let to circulate. Weston quickly sent a letter off to the Temple in reply.

"Hmmph... those who make peace with evil...
Are as wanton as those they've enabled..."
A hulking man clad in storm grey and muted steel would claw free one of these notices. An indigo glint would come from under his weathered helm as he walks away, crumpled notice in hand.

Katsumi reads them and murmurs to Iaide, as ever at her side.
"I notice it doesn't mention anything about anyone, Salandran or not, outside the temple. And who the hell is Darthion to make deals?! He's a damned Inquisitor, only the Imperceptor can speak for the Church!"
Iaide nods, grim as always. "Calm thyself, child. I noticed as well. It looks as though we will have to remain alert."
The two melt back into the shadows, silent as the grave.

// P.S. The treaty and notice about nuetrality would of course have been given to the temple mother for her approval. Should she declare any of this void, she has the final say.. whoever the DM in charge of Salandran affairs is these days... Though I am not Salandran by faith, I am hoping to train in the ways of the Healer and Physician and I see one truly confounding quandry.
If a patient who has escaped Banite capture makes their way to the Salandran Temple, is healed of the wounds they were inflicted and then leaves as you would have it, what guarantee is there that they will not re-sustain those wounds as soon as the Banites return, or suffer worse wounds up to and including death before their rightful time.
How say you to this?

Silithia stops past the sign, looking at it for a good while before speaking her mind:
"It seems the Banite influence on this isle extends far... I guess what I see as their chief negative point, the tyranny of law and order, is also their chief strength when it comes to these matters.
They are crass, in your face brutes, with no sense of style or finesse. Such tyrants and fanatical religious zealots, are just as bad as the Triadic Knights or Eternal Order. All will eventually fall in the end time, when the prophecy comes to pass..."
She walks on, not bothering to tear the notice down, or do anything to it. Such methods are below her.

*a scribbling below*
And those that ignore the lord of terror...shall find themselves burned to cinder as they sit and wait for a day that will never come, Bane is not some simply tyrant, he is not some simple threat..he is the definition of evil, he is the biggest threat to the world, anyone who praises him, should be hung, i dont seek redemption in those that do not wish it, slay them if they speak proudly of thier dark faith, and be quick, for bane embodies terror, bane embodies oppression..and in his wake is only death and sorrow.

*A fresh notice*
Have any of you people even bothered to read this or comprehend why I did this? I made this treaty with the Banites to PROTECT my fellow Clerics and our Temple. We are NUETRALS, always have been, always will be.
"Salandra offers healing to all who need it, regardless of race, creed or allignment"
I'm trying to protect that which I love and serve, if you can't see this then I pity you, hatred will destroy you all eventualy.
The Salandran Temple has always stood on this land as a symbol of Nuetrality and Healing for all, and has always been respected for this... or have you all forgotten this already?

Neutrality is not selling out.
Neutrality is not hiding behind walls and allowing your own people to be attacked if they leave.
You serve the land, or you serve the ideals. You cannot serve both.
Darthion will break this treaty, as he broke the treaty with the Eternal Order, and then where will we all be?
I will not come on temple grounds. That should allay some fears, but let it be known you leave yourself open, massively.
Katsumi.

Darthion has respected this stance for many decades and hopefuly will do so for a long time yet, the Black Caravan respected this nuetrality... we hope that many others will.
I do not condone the Banite church's way of life, it's no secret I dislike it intensly, but I am a Templar, it is my duty to protect my people and temple and I'll do so in any way I see fit, preferably through peaceful means.
Drawing up this treaty just puts into words an arrangement I have had with Darthion for more years than most people have walked on this island.

Templar Sikth,
It seems you danced around my point.
The patients you heal, once they have recovered to be let out onto their own, what is to happen to them after? What is to happen if the next time, the patient does not return to you?
I respect your Goddesses's Dogma, and should I complete my training through your institution will at least respect it's tenants as a professional code of conduct while acting as a Healer. However, I too am bound to ensure that no life ends before the individual's appointed time, and to be humbly honest I fear even Bane's church hasn't the right to determine that for any individual.

Finnegan,
If we were to start taking in all the people who come to us seeking to be hidden we would no longer be considered nuetral, we can't allow ourselves to be put into positions of threat because we're getting involved in people's personal lives. This never used to be a problem but seems to be on the increase over the last few years, sadly it is about time someone put a stop to it. Yes, we of course care about the people who leave our wards after they're healed, but the moment they step outside our gates it is no longer something we can be involved in.
I'm sure the Temple Mother and other Clerics have differing opinions on this and their voice is important, more so the Temple Mother, but as the oldest Salandran Cleric around I feel it appropriate to show by example how us as Salandrans should act. If the Temple Mother has reason to believe I'm not acting with accordance to her will, she'll tell me so and I'll adjust my behaviour accordingly.
But my crux of this discussion is this; How can we as Salandrans maintain our nuetrality if we're getting involved in people's personal lives? By standing between two groups and getting involved in their buisness on one side or another we're no longer acting in the manner that Salandra herself declared desireable when her tennants were written up.
Some people think being a Salandran is easy, it is not, you have to make tough choices and give up a lot to become one of Her Clerics. Very, very often we heal someone and discharge them from our care when the time is right only for them to return a few short days, weeks, months later having suffered the same fate as before. This obviously upsets us a great deal, but we simply can't get involved in matters outside our own grounds on principle, we must at all costs do what we've been doing for years, offer aid to those that need it without making judgement or getting involved in the politics of another church... and by aid I mean medical.
It is time the Salandran Temple started acting in the appropriate way, we should return to the values that we were founded on. Generations have come and generations have gone, the days when we Salandrans stood on the side of a battlefield awaiting the fight to be over so we could freely enter the field of combat to heal the wounded of both sides seem like a distant memory, but I desire to see all parties, factions and churches on Amia remember that this is what we were founded on and this is what we should return to.
I'm tired of seeing our beloved temple be put under threat because of the actions of our own clerics who deem it neccesary to get themselves involved in someone elses politics, or because our stance of nuetrality has been forgotten. It is time we Salandrans returned to our position of nuetrality, we must stand alone and aloof from the politics as best we can, we have allies, but those allies are there to protect us and we've always stood outside their political circle and have been respected for our stance of nuetrality. The city of Kohlingen protects us if neccesary but never asks us to be involved in their fight.
So once again I repeat myself, when a patient leaves our soil they're no longer under our care and are responcible for their own actions, we can't allow ourselves to involve the temple in the politics of another, regardless of what certain individuals may think or desire.
In Her Name.
Templar M. Sikth.

Templar Sikth,
Your words are important and I can see the value of a neutral healing body much greater then any dedicated Church, sir.
That said: I question when the responsibility of a physician ends, especially when it comes to someone who on leaving the Temple grounds is likely to be hunted and executed or tortured. Is it thus, that when we know a patient is to be slain that we heal them nonetheless for what little comfort it will give before they are found, taken, tortured and executed then?
Perhaps it is the Kelemvorite in me , however and I do readily confess I serve my deity in a differing way then perhaps some others of my own faith. The only death truly accepted readily by my god, save that of Necromancers and those who call forth the Undead is that of age. No mortal man should be allowed lightly to take the life of another unless all other choices have been exhausted.
Not all patients will be in a like situation, but if I am healing someone, I mean for them to survive, not to later be taken to slaughter by Banites.

As gossip about the treaty between the Salandran Temple and the Church of Bane gets around, the citizens of the Commonwealth weigh in.
"How could Weston be behind this? He brought our own beloved Johnathin back to life, and now he sides with the Church of Bane in oppressing us?"
"Take heart, neighbor! You've seen nothing from the horse's mouth yet."
"But wouldn't he be speaking out against this? The Banites want nothing more than to crush us under their boots!"
A latecomer arrives on the conversation.
"They're as bad as adventurers!"
"No, they're worse, because what adventurers do to us for sport, they do to us for religion!"
"Cor, how can the Salandrans encourage their murder by giving them healing and sanctuary and immunity from our laws?!"
The grumbling increases to a higher pitch over the next few days, and many of the citizens of Cordor don't have any trouble giving roving Salandrans, PC and NPC alike, a piece of their mind.

Edonil being visiting Cordor over hears the gossip with her sharp ears and frowns. She stands there in her chainmail and staff with her head tilted in listening, confidence of a War Knight. "My husband, West'on. He seeks to save and heal troubled souls, not just in body. He sought to save the morale of the people and give them hope back. Another kind of healing." She shifts her weight and look forwards with her white blind eyes.
"He has not spoken for his over seeing a child with mental derangement thanks to abuse of others. He will speak to all once more information is known. I know my mate well enough. One should not assume anything til all truth of information is found out." She turns and taps away on the ground heading out of the city.

At long last a notice finally shows up. A single one placed up on Cordor. Weston Carter walked through the town in his long grey coat and ensures the posting is up on display in Cordor's square nearer the government hall. By hand he tears down the poster from Metalien Sikth that formally occupied the place. Later he will ensure that posters are set into other towns and locations when he's permitted to.
The Posters wrote: "
TO ALL THE ISLAND; CONCERNING SALANDRAS HOLY TEMPLE AND BANES CHURCH
The Treaties that have been signed by a one Metalien Sikth and a one Darthion Illys are FALSE TREATIES.
As part time record keeper in Salandra's Holy Temple, I can personally certify that the man Metalien Sikth is a former Templar. He had done so, and self willingly, denounced his Official Voice for Salandra's Holy Temple to serve personally to the Shadowflame family name.
By his own decision, Metalien Sikth has No Official Say Nor Representation in the name of Salandra's Holy Temple. He has Not the authority to speak for the Clergy or Templar of Salandra's Holy Temple; Nor the authority to make declairations, pacts, treaties, or other binding contracts in the name of Salandra's Holy Temple.
All Treaties that have circulated as so signed by Metalien Sikth and Darthion Illys are neither endorsed or recognized by Salandra's Holy Temple. The treaties are held solely between Metalien Sikth and the Church of Bane.
Let it be known that Salandra's Holy Temple will continue to provide healing, shelter, and protection to all patients upon the Holy Grounds. That ALL patients, regardless race, belief, or affiliations will continue to be treated equally that they hold the rights to healing, shelter, and protection, up to and including non-identification so long as they are Upon Salandra's Temple Grounds.
Those who are upon the grounds for Need Of Medical are granted, by default, Patient Privacy and Patient Sanctuary. Salandra's Holy Temple has not, as accused, provided Sanctuary to a non-patient that would cause conflict with The Church of Bane or otherwise recognized organization.
To the Attention of The Church of Bane: Salandra's Holy Temple at this time cannot enter into a contract as has been designed and signed by the ex-Templar Metalien Sikth. A formal apology is extended to the confusion this may bring and the Hopes to Peacefully settle any conflict.
It is asked of the Isle to recognize that the treaties circulated as signed by Metalien Sikth be understood to hold No Affiliation to Salandra's Holy Temple. Any Official Treaties will bear both Temple Seal and The Temple Mother signature.
Tenet and Faith, By Name of Salandra's Holy Temple,
Weston Carter

*Metalien reads the note and rolls his eyes*
So the imprisoned one wishes to declare me a False Templar? Such poor comedy.
*Walking off he heads back to Cordor to go abut his daily buisness, too old to care what anyone thinks, nor give a damn what Weston believes*
At least I didn't get thrown in jail by The Triadic Knights for acting like a fool.

To some of this gossip, as Weston passed through Cordor back from the Monolith towards Kohligen, he would be willing to answer some things from people. Although time presses him a bit as well. If so asked, or overhearing comments that rather rub him the wrong way, he might offer a reply along the lines:
"Salandra's healers often act alone because we must spread ourselves far and thin to help all those we can. The Temple itself has no endorsement to these kinds of treaties without very long consideration. Expecially one like this."
"Those so-called trieties represent one man; not Salandra's Temple or Holy doctine."
"We have to help everyone, sometimes it means we have to heal up a criminal. But nonbody has immunity from laws. We don't harbor criminals like that."
"I am absolutely against this treaty. It was done by an ex-Templar alone and some of the wording goes against the greater good."
"I hear the rumors spreading- Yes, I have spent two nights in Kohligen's Prison; for protecting a child's life that was in danger of inside hand murder until the situation was safe again. And that matter is being fully resolved."
"I respect Metalien Sikth. But he's from different times. I don't respect this act of his at all to claim official status after leaving the Temple by his own choice."
"I encourage Cordor's people to ask those who would claim to be of Salandra's Temple for proof of Salandra's Holy Temple's Insignia. There is rarely a follower of Her Faith that does not affiliate with Her Churches."
"I will die before I abandon Cordor. This was my home for years as a child. I will never forget, never leave, and never give up hope in the people."

The Cordorian Commonwealth breathes a collective sigh of relief at Weston's public letter and his more private visitation. As he walks the streets, he is followed by a gathering of people, praising his name, thanking him for his incredible service, and referring to him as someone sainted by Salandra Herself.

They say a picture says a thousand words.
Beneath Darthion and Metalien's original agreement, in the Salandran Temple grounds, the picture says it all.
There is however a line striking out "Salandrans will not enter the Banite Temple......" et al.
"Salandrans do not choose sides inherently and therefore being on non Salandran grounds is not grounds to deny a healer their inherent duty to Worship By Healing."

Metalien reads the note with a silent nod, pleased to see that Mother Teresa has backed his judgement.
Without another word he goes off to do his duty without gloating or leaving any further notes, satisfied that the Salandran way has been upheld.

*as word reaches the lich of the reactions in Cordor to Weston's word, and the subsequent revealing of Mother Teresa's confirmation of the treaty, Frey looks up to those gathered*
Who is this one, regardless? Mineself has heard of Metalien, met him once, can thou believe he was once Zhentarim? But this .. Weston.. mineself knows nothing of him, and now to see him so at odds and ends with his own Church.
Gods know the Banites will need healers soon enough.

Iaide soon finds himself hard-pressed to control his young ward, who promptly shatters the first sign she sees.
"Are they stupid?! Do they not remember that that oaf....gah!!"
Iaide sighs, and soon enough happenstance finds him calmly sitting on her back, holding her gently down for a much-needed time-out.
"I will...stop yelling, child...I will allow you your feet when you are calm, and not before..."

Weston, although part of his heart heavy, ensures that the treaties are properly demonstated to which form that the Temple Mother signed to.
The Officially Seale Treaty Passed To the Island wrote: THE CHURCH OF BANE AND TEMPLE OF SALANDRA, TREATY AND NON AGGRESSION.This Treaty hereby signifies the continued neutrality and agreement of non aggression between the Church of Bane and The Temple of Salandra. We the below signed commit ourselves to a stance of Non Aggression and Peace between our two Churches and declare this agreement official and long lasting upon this paper. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The details of this agreement are henceforth:No Salandran will refuse medical aid to a Banite. "Salandrans do not choose sides inherently and therefore being on non Salandran grounds is not grounds to deny a healer their inherent duty to Worship By Healing."Finally, the Neutrality of the Salandran Wards is to be observed at all times, regardless of who else may be in our care. If a Banite is in a recovery bed and a (for example) Church of Cyric member is in the adjacent bed, neutrality and peace will be observed, whoever is seen breaking this neutrality, be they Salandran, Banite or the third party, will be ejected from the Salandran Temple without further notice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Signed this day in peace. METALIEN SIKTH, Salandran Templar.& DARTHION ILLYS, Dread Inquisitor of Bane.
As for what he says in Cordor, his tone hardly changes.
"The irony of this declairation is that it's no different in practices than what Salandra's Holy Temple already does. All that changes is that we make open affiliation with scum.
I for one in no way support the atrocities that Bane's Church commits. Let there be hope to understand that nor does Salandra's Temple support their crimes and sin against life."
"We have to help everyone, sometimes it means we have to heal up a criminal. But nonbody has immunity from laws. We don't harbor criminals like that."
