This is fantastic, I look forward to using this as a stamp for official documents. :D

Well, red and purple are Lloth's ceremonial colors, so I guess it's really not a big deal if one of them leaves as far as the symbol goes.

In order to show unity, my idea is that purple and red need to be in the same picture

Also, I don't think the vanguard/temple really belong in the city symbol, since houses traditionally run drow cities/society under guidance of the temple. Being a part of a drow house.. is kind of a way big deal.

Currently, when I look at the mono-colored wheel I think of a house not just a city. That's not to say I don't like it-- because I clearly do.

well, the suggestion was more like stamps.

There would be the city symbol, and when vanguard issued their statements it'd be city seal+vanguard part.

So the vanguard and temple wouldn't show up on the official seal but they'd have their own 'versions' so to speak.

I wish I wasn't leaving for a while, otherwise I'd make some really pretty stuff for Nec'perya as practice. If the city is still here when I return (2 months) I'll see to it then.

Now somebody only needs to suggest that we use this IC'ly (preferably the artist's character) as a sign of unity!

Unfortunately, the artist does not play here. He/she is anonymous to me, still, and he/she doesn't have an account where they keeps their art publicly- at least not yet. They did, however, agree to draw this knowing the context in which it would be used, so I doubt there will be an issue. None of us OOCly are claiming to own the picture, either.

Mercedes edited the symbol, but he'll be away for two months, so he really can't claim anything right now. My best idea is to have one of our NPCs present the symbol to its current leaders.

I like the idea of a NPC presenting it, given something Dusty recently mentioned in a PM it make sense.

Though a PC works, too. I just like the idea of the Dusty-knows-who suggesting it.

Pony says that it's impossible to make a good looking banner with What we already have.
Can we somehow simplify it for a banner like the above?

We need an easy 2D picture.

To expand on it a bit; The banners use a specific texture, which I copy in layers, colorize and cut out the symbol out of with only the border of the symbol remaining. So with the tarkuul banner on the left, the white texture is above the red. But they are the same texture, just in different colors. That way, the actual textile texture remains intact and it all feels like one piece. Nec'perya's symbol has a variety of colors and is very complicated, but it is mainyl the three dimensional style of it that bites itself with the appearence of the banner.

Basically, I need a simple two-dimensional styled symbol. Else I would need to work a long time on it, for a result that would likely not satisfy me.

Would it be possible to just use the outline of the city symbol and then make it one solid color? Perhaps a black banner with the symbol being purple/red? Just a thought.

This is the test I made. It is not terrible, but I am not exactly happy with it. The color is also that bright, because in game it will be very dark and you would want to be able to see more than black.

That's not too bad, and yeah I didn't even think about black in the dark haha.

What if it was outlined in white or silver and the inside of the wheel/handles were given a certain color? I'm trying to keep it as simple and true to the symbol as possible in my head. I would try something in Photoshop, but I'm not super with it. If I get time later I might make an attempt, even if just to display my vision.

That's just a background problem. Alter the colour of the background and it'll be fine. :)

>.> No, it is not a background problem. If it is black, you will not be able to see the sigil in the underdark. If it is red, it will look just like it does now, only red.

Looks nice, but if it will be a problem in the dark - then maybe make it white?
Will be nicely visible in the darkness, and we can use the dark and white versions where necessary.
