Is it possible to make it you can change your summons even epic summons whenever you want, is there a reason we cant with familiars and animal companions? Could open up more rp options by having different creatures at your disposal.

You have the selection on lvling. Others can be requested via skinchanger if you want something different. Just makse sure the base creature matches the skin requested. Ic justification needed how it came to be ofc.

If you mean daily changing whenever, it would be a no... because both feats are based on bonding with the creature in one way or another. In familiar case sometimes even enforcing.

Edit: ranger, wizard or sorcerer cant bond creatures easily. It is a processed that takes times and resources and sometimes both sides agreeing to stick with one another. Stories are many. But main reason is the lore aspect behind the feature

Yeah you can temporarily summon whatever.

A familiar or companion is a bond that you cannot just swap every hour, so from a lore perspective, that makes no sense to change.
