Khem basked in an ember glow, where once white sands or those of yellow, now tinted a dusky red. Huge ashdrifts piled up in the crevasse and canyons of the sandy realm. Great grey deserts would emerge through the haze, more ash upon the ground.

Very little structural damage was done by the quake that preceeded the thunderous explosion of the Tropical island, but the ash clouds rapid expansions brought death to many who were stuck below the Khalem Valley-Djedet pass.

A group of adventurers, Mulhorandi and various other beings staved of the worst effects of the nightmare come true with a great effort of both divine and arcane force, bringing forth the wind from the North to blow South and turn the lower Ashcloud back to sea. The sepat of Djedet was saved from the worst of the Ash cloud due to this heroic delaying action, though it brought low the Arcanists involved due the difficulty of controlling weather with weave.

In the greater Alambar region the shock waves caused huge amounts of waters to be displaced. From the shores of the Yuirwood, to Unther, from Skuld to Chessenta, and far up the River of Swords, the impact was felt as entire villages, forests, farms, and cities were washed away, destroyed or severely damage. Trade is halted in the region with thousands missing in the sea. The navies of Thay and Mulhorand are utterly destroyed, whilst Chessenta suffers with the loss of a third of a trading Caravel.

Algarond suffers its worst flood in remembered history, ancient tree's in the Yuirwood fallen as the Earth was washed away from beneath them.

The Catastrophe, the Red Hand Prophecy still unfolds, and the Volcano that once was a Paradise continues to burn with natural fury.

While the ash rained down from the sky, Ulrik, along with other mages and druids, had sought shelter to perform a delicate ritual of magic. The strain was great upon all the mages conducting the ritual, unlike the druids whom were closer to the elements they were all seeking to control. Even as the other mages dropped from the strain, falling upon the ritual circle on the ground, Ulrik stood defiant amid his magic. And, even as the older magician was finally laid low by the effort, he did not fall until he had let go of the spell upon its moment of completion. Until that point, he had held onto the magic, stubborn and determined. There were many innocent lives at stake.

Sometime later, the magician lay resting in the compound with his fellow mages, all exhausted from the effort, paying the price for their determination.

He rests for several hours, sleep finding him for a'time. However, the older wizard would eventually rise from his rest. He would not linger long, just long enough to let those still resting in the compound know he was departing, but that he would return.

He had done what he could, for now. He would return, soon. At the moment, though, he had one place to be.

Home.

Akirishepsut, the young magus who was the first to fall, takes the longest to rebound. A full day she spends virtually unconscious, before finally rousing after sunset, her head aching and her body feeling like she's taken a beating. When she finally makes it out of bed, she stumbles off to find her people, to inquire after the success of the spell.

Subtle clues in the dusky red ash covering the sands immediately around Djedet hold record of one small happening amidst the chaotic trials of great calamity, though none, save for those walking the outer perimeter of the settlement’s southern wall would likely notice them at all.

Those few who wander that section of Djedet’s periphery, however, may note a series of impressions beginning at the western gate and from there closely paralleling the wall … though slightly obscured by remaining ash fall that came afterward, recognizable by their shape, regular sequential placement and spacing as two sets of running footprints, with one smaller and shorter in stride trampled in all places of meeting by the other longer striding and heavier booted prints that seem to have quite apparently followed, perhaps closely.

The trail of the two’s travel continues along the entire length of the southern wall but ends abruptly in a mottle of many prints surrounding a shallow broader impression in the ash and sand roughly five feet long by two feet wide. Here the dull red ash, though dusted with a final light fresh covering, shows smaller patches of varying signs of staining in subtly darker, deeper hue, and last footsteps from here continuing on – several sets of them, with one going toward the eastern gate and two toward the raft landing – are all more closely spaced befitting a slower walking pace that for each still leaves heavy impression. Similar stains to those around the shallow impression, though smaller and more sporadic, accompany the prints of one of the latter two.

From the eastern shore of the river, though scarcely noticeable to any who do not seek or walk closely to them, the depressed records of two walking pairs of feet and occasional small subtly darker stain in the red ash continue on, paralleling the north side of the earthen road toward Lost River until directly across from the clearing where caravans to that settlement muster for hire. There, the footprints and small stains again mottle about a disturbance in the wind-formed patterns of the sand, and a heavy rock that seems, by an equivalent width swath of cleared sand leading to it with single set of deeply dug in foot falls along its center, to have been intentionally slid into new place of rest.

Time, as is its way in the desert, continues by the work of wind and thus stirred ash, sand and dust, to erase these clues toward nothingness, but an observant or seeking few might well be able to for a short while yet determine at least a little of what happened here involving a few amongst the masses in the midst of cataclysmic tragedy.

A small number, however, already know the truth, though perhaps not all that it may portend ...

*An old face seems to return to the Khemite region, walking on the roads between Djedet and Nes'ek frequently. It seems that the heavily armored knight is getting used to the heat of the desert as the time is passing, however, he is still looks uncomfortable in his armor.*

Desert, sand, heat, volcanos and cushions.....it is indeed a test of faith.

Lines of stress seem to cross the Sekhry's face at all times but he holds it together. He is oft seen speaking to the others, holding small meetings and seeing to the needs of the common citizens and the soldiers. The boy Fu'murik comes with him on his rounds, quiet as always.

Zahra works relentlessly purifying water for her household and the township. She doesn't sleep much anymore, and when she does, it it light and fitful. She inventories what food she can, and begins rationing it out.

A poster appears in the settlement of Djedet.

Lord and Ladies of the township of Djedet.

It brings me sadness to see your fruitfull city so covered in burned earth. The Red hand prophecy seems to have unfolded against your settlement.
Ana wish that he could help, but seeing the nature of your town and the state it is in ana have but no choice than to withdraw his shop from within your walls and seek better, more prominent places to continue selling my mercantile.
It saddens me to write this but one can not deny the signs that are painted over your sands.

Kossuth is angered and ana would go against his will to continue my business in your forsaken town. You should attempt to make amends to the lord of fire before the catastrophe worsens.

    Yours sincerely
    Hashim Hoios

A letter is never bother being returned.

Muharib Ramathant turns to his wife and speaks,

"The trash leaves the city in droves, the rightful who follow the eight stay. The fool knows not what he speaks. I'd pity his ignorance if I was a more caring man"

He then lights the letter with a candle and watches it burn and burn before quenching it beneath his boot while sitting at his desk.

Word is sent to bar his entry from the city as well until a formal apology to the people is given in public and the merchant sacrifices some of his wealth for the people.

Tuomas, who had been staying in Djedet as part of a task already committed to stands his ground.

Though he also acknowledges he cannot provide active aid in the field during the task he is working on, he does offer any other aid he can, including the teaching of a formula to Djedet's magicians for a spell that can help suppress fires.

Zelly rested overnight in the town of Djedet and in the morning she had a lingering cough. She stayed for several hours into the afternoon before leaving finally to see to some business arrangements. She returned a few hours later, and has since been seen in Djedet near constantly. At several points, she steps in to check on Tuomas before leaving again to continue her work and meet with the citizens of Djedet.

The following day, Min's orcblood mate arrives in the desert. Imediately noticing the change of scenery cause by the catastrophe. He then saw some faint ash blown tracks of heavy booted and of his lady being given chase to. He followed these tracks until he came upon a place of where hers ceased and a struggle took place. He still found no sign of her. He followed the other tracks to the shore and across the other side. He followedthem to a big rock that was loosely placed on the sand. He moved the rock , getting worried and upset. He frantically began do dig until he found her hand, and then her disembowelled corpse. He removed her dead body while crying aloud and promising vengeance upon whoever did this to her. He dropped to his knees to pray to their shared god and then attempted a raise scroll. she had been dead longer than usual and he was scared it would'nt work. To his surprise, it did. He bid her to not speak and spirited them away to the Triumvirr to rest and get her out of her place of demise. With his and an old friends help, she became as good as new.

The slightly estranged Mulhorandi woman makes a sudden appearance on Khem once more, practically jumping from the portal in Ne'sek into the sands. With widened eyes she looks around, observing the damage and shifted, ashy sands. After a moment she clutches her bag to herself and closes her eyes tightly, lips moving as she breathes a silent prayer before slowly moving about to survey things.

The newly promoted Scrivener of Djedet Aoth Nathandem walks through the town frequently, looking as far as he is able to the horizon anticipating the weather to come. He then walks back to the complex for more reading, writing and praying, hoping for a swift end to the wrath of the bringer of the chaos running wild throughout Mulhorand

As Malandria hears of the occurrence, she seems somewhat surprised about the news. Clearly she however doesn't consider it anything unusual or abnormal as of yet. The druidess doesn't travel there for now, knowing that three people of the Grove help out there on a regular base. The next time she sees Talyne, Catkin or Narik she does offer her help though, should it be needed.

Meanwhile, having heard of the disaster from others at the Shrine of Eilistraee, a young priestess busies herself with preparing care packages to be sent specificly to families with small children or elderly family members in their households (though they're to be made available to any who need them, if such families decline to accept for any reason). They consist mainly of bottles of various fruit juices, crates of which begin to pile up in the interior of the Shrine, awaiting delivery.

As word of the plight reaches Kohlingen, Sir Justin once again organises the Triadic relief efforts as directed by Lord Yaston. An estimated 4,200 souls to be supplied is a daunting task. Let alone the masive need for water in such a climate.

A task made even more complicated by the history, politics and competing faiths in the desert.

Aided by Lady Mia Niaconda and Squire Calia Morgoth they deliver the first set of supplieas to Ne'sek

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g47 ... adyMia.png

Then with the aid of Keeper Gorm, Lord Yaston, Lady Pale and others another weeks worth of supplies are delivered to the Vizier in Djedet.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g47 ... Djedet.png

The cost and the effort involved is massive challenging their resources. Yet they succeed in delivering the first week's worth of food and water along with miscellaneous first aid and other supplies.

It had been a busy and long day for teh Seneschal of the Triadic Knights. The attempt to filter and distill the contaminated water had failed. Unfortunately boiling acidic water produced only acidic steam. Perhaps a true distiller or alchemist might have succeeeded.

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g47 ... oblem1.png

Anoth Nathandem a mage of Mulhorand was great help in that attempt along with Squire Calia.

Yet they had success in gaining the commitment of Imhotep and the Mulhorandi Clergy to commit to creating water. This along with the commitment of the Kohlingen clergy would solve the water problem for the short term.

At the end of the day in Kohlingen Sir Justin gave thanks to the Triad for the blessings they had given to aid the thirsty and hungry of Khem.

Sir Justin Fairfax continues to see supplies and shipments delivered along what has become a supply route of some length tretching from Guldorand to Djedet by portal.

Everywhere he goes the knights and volunteers such as Sally Grubbins-Torrowfire of Bendir Dale are well received. Tents, blankets, blankets, food, water and gold as required.

The merchants supplying the effort no doubt grow rich from the flow of gold. Sir Justin and the others with him grow rich in spirit though poorer in gold.

Always how to solve the various supply problems weighs literally in the physical supplies he carries and mentally on the Seneschal of the Triadic knights.

The people of Djedet and Nes'ek begin to warm to the Triadic Knights. Firm annoyed glances are cast at the doors of the Cathedral of the Martyr Saint, and angry mutterings about the Eternal Order doing nothing to aid the current ailments of the town are evident.

Mahir can be seen assisting with these shipments. Taking his wifes's load of water from their own domicile each morning.
