The man stumbled through the caverns, wheezing for breath, "The lieing hag, she's gone and condemed me!" His hair was on end, goosebumps covered his flesh as he was scratched and bruised against the walls of the cavern.

His slackening skin, riddled with wrinkles dripped sweat as his ears picked up the faint sound of movement behind him, a gentle slide within the shadow recesses of the passage way.

He spun around awkwardly, bringing his fists up to his face for whatever protection he could muster. Fear wracked his body, kept him in place as the elongated shape began to wrap him up.

The serpent-like creature caked in shadows began to squeeze the venerable man, he gasped and wheezed in the grasp of the thing, and as it's maw, dripping with a thick blackened mucus, descended on its prey, the man scowled up defiantly and almost spat "Wife eating scaled skunk!"

In the village of Cliffside a small, unobtrusive cremation is held, two elderly figures are wrapped up in fine silk and placed atop an oak pyre. The villagers gather putting aside their chores as the sun sets and the flames consume the deceased couple. No words are spoken and once the inferno dies down to a gentle flicker the villagers head inside for safety and the wind takes the couple on to the next life.

It wasn't sleep, at least not quite the way it was for everyone else. But he did dream sometimes when he rested, and he did have nightmares...

This one wasn't wholly unexpected...not after what Audrey had mentioned. Still when one finds oneself trapped by the coils of a massive snake in a dream it is never a pleasant experience. The thing was massive, huge violet coils winding round and round on a scale too great for him to get a proper idea of things. Still, it just struck him as an oversized snake.

So this is the ancient evil,he thought grimly, as he struggled against the coils winding tighter and tighter around him Cute.

He fought. He had to. It was in his nature to try to fight anything that threatened him. His blood would not let him just give up and die. But here in the Fugue, he was only as strong as his own will and could not call upon the weapons, tools, and tricks he often used out in the Prime. So fight, squirm struggle and curse as he could, he could do nothing to stop the slow crushing pain of the massive nightmare as it ground him down.

And then it ended. His eyes snapped open and he found himself where he had gone into meditation to rest, a small dim room in the Hin Inn, sweat pouring off his body and a deep ache in his chest. It took him several moments to get his breathing under control and only then did he notice the punctures in his palms, left by his own talons as he had squeezed his hands into balled fists. He eyed the blood trickling thinly from the holes then carefully proceeded to bind them with strips of treated cloth.

Well now,he said thoughtfully with a wry grin, Life was getting rather boring anyway.

In Wharftown, a funeral is held outside the temple of Selune under her light. The High Preistess, Lilith, presides. The body, or what is left of it, is wrapped in a dark navy cloak embroidered with crescent moons atop the funeral pyre. All of the small temple's clergy in attendance seem deeply upset- one female cleric with a shaved head, known to the townsfolk as Riley- is particularly distraught, sobbing through her parts of the ritualistic prayers.

The Temple remains silent on the nature of the clergyman's death, asking that the public please respect the mourning process of those that knew him, and wait until his family can be contacted to make anything public. The details that do surface are that the man's name was Jesoph, and he was known for helping people who suffered from debilitating nightmares.

The temple of Selune remains open, but a curtain of palpable grief hangs over it. Lilith is seen often in deep prayer, and seems to be preoccupied more often than not with her own thoughts.

Hearing of the trouble in Wharftown, Elor makes his way to the temple to speak with Lilith and the other clergy, listening to what they might have to say and offering encouraging words if they would have them.

Watching from the back is a hooded, cloaked figure. Female, in full plate, all of it dyed silver and blue, the one eye is a dead giveaway of whom she is. She moves to Lilith to ask quietly what happened to their brother, and how she can help.

One particular priest of the Moon Maiden, a halfling, seems more angry than saddened. Counter to Priestess Lilith, the halfling seems to be itching for a fight. He's rarely seen without a scowl on his face and a fire in his eyes.

*One zombie-looking woman is seen spending most of her time near or even in the temple in Wharftown. She obviously suffers from hallucinations. Her eyes are dented and black like a bruise from the rubbing and fatigue. Occasionally, she refers to a cat that is black and brown with green eyes. Her hands shake still hours after coffee and she can't hold her attention to anything longer than a few seconds. Her words slur and she stutters what appear to be thoughts. She often is seen picking at her finger nails, yawning, muttering about Jesoph, snakes, Rex, and whatever else might come to mind.*

Sitting alone in the high peaks of the Skull Crags, white armor difficult to pick out against the snow, a lone figure stares into the flames of a campfire, dancing and hissing much like serpents or at least to his thinking.

No roads? That is what you think my arrogant friend. A journey at night into the Fugue is still a journey, and you are waylaying innocent travellers along that route. That makes you my enemy. You like mind games? Let's play then. He stands and with a light kick douses his fire under a pile of snow and vanishes into the snow and mists of the mountains.

A scarred, grim-faced Chultan man in monk's robes can be seen puttering about the Triumviir's library of late, seeking information on several odd subjects. If asked what he's up to, he'd either make no reply if he was busy, or simply mention that "the Eater of the Sun stalks the land."

The Chultan might or might not notice a sleep-deprived tiefling going through books of his own, many on the Fugue or the Night Serpent or anything related, trying to find something while muttering loudly and repeatedly about snakes and dream-punching someone.

As the days passed it didn't take long before Audrey simply disappeared entirely. Was rather unlike her at present...

Curiously, those suffering from the dreaded nightmares seem to be free of those that stalk dreams within the Enclave of Winya. Furthermore, those that do rest knowing they're hunted within the realm of Dream seem to enjoy a brief respite from the relentless nightmares that assault their mind... perhaps they're lieing in wait, or have bigger, more important fish to fry.

Gossip of an exploding boy circulates through Cordor, a variety of theories are proposed by well respected drunks as to the cause. The dominant cause (speculated on) seems to be the plague striking down elves, many believe that it has mutated to infect humans too, and that the symptons are far, far more deadly! I mean, it causes you to explode!

Deciding to spend some time in the Triumvir later, after he'd finished speaking with the other folks whom were present at the debacle in Cordor, the Gnomish Magician decided to take some time to make for the Demiplane of Lore, researching Aberrations and trying to find something matching the description of what he had seen.

Kurchin would stay with Tuomas as they researched Abberations in the Triumvir, the kobold helping the gnome how he can.

Sir Justin Fairfax returned to the Triadic Temple to mourn the loss of the boy named Tommy and to give thanks that the aberration that the child's corpse had become was destroyed.

The spectacle of a squad of plate mailed Triadics rsuhing through Cordor with a WarKnight and a servant of Lathander must have created no small manner of excitement.

They arrived upon the scene of the childs body transforming. Justin would learn later that the boy was already dead. Magics of restoration fed the change quickly as some mucus like four legged creature lept at Sir Justin.

It seemed to try to speak the knight's name. Even as the Chapter Marshall drew Catechism from its sheath and met the leap with its enchanted steal. Lady Nicha and the squad fell on the beast as it did its best to bring down the knight.

The honour of the killing blow was Lady Nicha's. Then Tuomas bansihed its remains while the remains of the orphaned child were cremated.

Sir Justin watched the flames deeply saddened as he had earlier that day donated to the orphanage to ease the plight of children such as the now dead Tommy. A lad who no doubt had sought to earn a few coppers but fell prey to this.

Afterwards there was rumour of a bat-like creature that had been seen near Cordor's festival grounds. During their search all that was found was a stash of illegal pipe herbs.

There was one last bit of confusing drama created by the woman claiming to see tendrils coming out of Elle's and another's head. Both were examined and nothing found.

The woman Chelle was almost paniced with fear and had to be held by Sir Robert and himself. With the guards permission the squad removed her from Cordor's grounds as she was suspected of being infected with plague.

There was a great fear among the on-lookers and rising concern within the Chapter Marshall's heart that the woman they held would die and explode into another abberation just as the boy had.

A thorough examination revealed nothing among the two she accused nor her own person. With that she was released with but the bruising from the grip.
