All across the Forgotten Realms, small changes begin to ripple across the world. The predominant crystalline shapes and formations at regions of energy fluctuations have begun to dissipate and dissolve. In their place, more natural (though always with a touch of the supernatural) signs of the fluxes begin to emerge. The most noticeable for many is the Amian Forest. The crystal is gone, and in its place, having grown over a week's time, is a small tree, with brilliant blue, indigo, and violet leaves. This 'change in manifestation', a term coined by a Mystran speaking in Kohlingen near the Forge, doesn't seem to have affected the Portal Wands or their abilities at all.

The changes seem largely cosmetic, but tend to blend in with their environments, with an extraordinary touch. Other commonly seen thing include discolored stones on Cordor buildings near an old crystal node, a place of strikingly clear water with bright green kelp in Cordor West, a mysterious Faerie Ring in the Western Amian forest, odd deep blue colored ice formations in Brogendenstein, strangle colored cacti in Khem, and unique fluctuations in the Aurora Borealis over Forrstakkr.

Whatever the changes are, they're clearly not isolated to the sections of the Prime Material, either. Zanshibon's node undergoes a very subtle change. Shadowscapes goes under a striking change, and many citizens of Shadowscape gather around it in awe: A ten to twenty foot radius around the only crystal's location in Shadowscape is filled with color, as if it were still on the Prime Material. The Triumvir's node changes as well, with small, unheard of melodies drifting in and out of the ear when near the old crystal's location.

It's very clear that something, on the surface, has changed about the nodes and fluxes, but their function doesn't seem to have changed much at all. For the everyday adventurer, life goes on like normal. For the dedicated observant though, big things have occured.

A certain Hin and her allies seem to have jumped at the happenings. The Hin can be seen all across Amia Island, taking notes and making keen observations. She certainly has a look of suspicion on her face.

Elor seems to find the change to the crystal in Triumvir delightful, spending a good amount of time simply listening to the ever-present melodies.

Additionally, Tuomas is noted as deeply contemplative as he rests in Kohlingen for the time being.

He seems to make sure in his prepared spells that he has a few specifically ready for when next he goes to gather more information. He then lastly, pulls out a pouch to make sure the physical components for those spells are availible ot him at all times.

In Tarkuul, a young drowess studies the new "node" with a deep frown. Eventually, she hastens to the library, to determine what may have happened.

Beldor steps out of a Gate near Merrick, followed by a young human male. Looking around, he nonchalantly rubs his eyes for a moment or two, remarking on the change around him. He gives a grunt and looks skyward. His associate behind him, in the Serpent's trademark colors, taps him on the shoulder and gives him a puzzled look. The student motions overhead, denoting the sphere of colors and vibrancy. Beldor grumbles under his breath the only explanation he can imagine.

"Magic... everywhere in this bitch."

The newly titled Keeper of the Citadel pulls up a chair next to the.... crystal? He sits staring at it closely at first being cautious not to touch it. Not knowing of the recently occurring changes elsewhere, Reddok examines what used to be the node crystal warily. Suspicious that it could be a trap or a preemptive move against the Citadel he sends messages to the High Councilors. Then he touches it...

Ice!? Da damned node crystal beh turned to ice...

Reddok stomps his way out of the Citadel making his way to the Monastery to personally verify the status of their ice, er crystal, the damned node!

Visiting a number of destinations away from the main island, Tuomas seemed to take note of the various changed forms of the nodes about. At this point he was refraining from any magical examinations of nodes but he was curious.

Visiting Ne'sek, Djedet, Howness, and Endir's Point amongst other places, the curious Gnome took quiet note of the changes which seemed to have taken place at all of them. He continued , travelling amongst other destinations with a similar curiousity.

While speaking with Sally Gubbins-Torrowfire in Kohlingen's Main square on this very topic, Tuomas seemed to pause, and suddenly rushed off with her insisting on checking something which seemed to get his attention.

Feonir glances at the portal in shadowscape, sticking his hand into the color effected area, repeatedly, blinking then glancing over at Merrick.

"You ever seen anything like this old man? Suppose this means all those smaller hunks, the mythals are gonna turn into crap like this too?"

He takes a few steps back and does the most scientific thing he can think of, and hucks a rock at the node.

Going to Wharftown's Node to confirm what was told of him about the change there, Tuomas tilted his head quietly as he looked at the strange marking in the cliff.

Taking a note, he quietly made a note to himself.

Whilst doing some research in the Triumvir library, Tuomas quietly also drafted and sent off the following missives, one to the Shrine of Eilistraee, and one to Winya Ravana.

--

To The Shrine of Eilistraee,

I apologize that I haven't contacted you much in some time but I must ask a favour of you.

I am uncertain if there is a Portal Node within the interior of the Shrine, but if there is I would ask your permission to either inspect what form it has taken or if not that, then at the least have a detailed description of it's appearance.

My reasoning for this is I am attempting to comprehend the changes in portal nodes and I do have one or two running theories on the why but I am still gathering what information I can.

Please reply at earliest convience to Kohlingen.

Regards,
Tuomas Valo

To the authorities of Winya Ravana,

I apologize for the disturbance but I would make a request of you.

I am uncertain if Winya has a Ley Line Node of it's own within it's inner sanctum, but if it does given the recent change in the form of the Ley Line nodes, I would ask either your permission if Winya has one to inspect it's appearance, or alternatively if you would not permit me within your walls to ask for a detailed description of the appearance.

My reasoning for this is that I am attempting to comprehend the changes in potal nodes, and I do have one or two running theories on the reason this is occuring, but I am still in the process of learning what I can.

Please reply at earliest convience to Kohlingen.

Regards,
Tuomas Valo

Draxis stands in the Forest of Dispair, staring at the strange tree there for a while. He pulls a leaf off the tree and inspects it before placing it between some pages of a book. He then looks around to the other trees in the forest before he fades into the shadows.

Thimblepot the Brownie and many of his fey friends are drawn to the newly formed Faerie Ring in Northwest Amia Forest. Together they laughed, played and sang through the night around the ring of mushrooms, drawn to its supernatural power and its wonderfully secluded location.

Over time, many of the remaining crystals begin to change as well, even if it is only something as simple as a soft glow, or a warm wind near the crystal.

The young drowess starts making inquiries. From Kampos, she heads toward Uhm, stopping to talk to a silver dragon on the way. Meeting up with a group of the Mystic blades in Ruathym, she moves on, sending a letter to Kohlingen.

Amongsto ther travels, the Gnomish Wizard visits the Shadow plane and sees the node change for himself. Noting the blue orb amidst the darkness which otherwise permeates, he shudders. He is accompanied by a woman , a man wearing Triadic Livery, a kobold, and a man with a Black hat. The woman and man with the black hat seem more familair with the place.
