News rapidly travels from the city of Kohlingen after an event of great magnitude occurs. A troop of holy warriors marched upon the Manor of Manfried one last time, finally bringing an end to the horrifying cycle of undeath. What exactly happened is unknown, but rumors certainly spread like wildfire.

"I heard Simond finally found a way to kill that monster!"

"Are you daft? That fool's been trying the potion trick for years, and it never worked! It must've been the Justicar!"

"I don't care! I can finally visit my mother again!"

Indeed, volunteers from all corners of the Holy City go to the manor grounds to restore the once haunted lands to a resting place for the dead. Older corpses are put back into the graves that were split apart so many years ago, while newer corpses (Those of unlucky adventurers) are given new graves. The manor itself, however, is kept off limits to civilians. Agents of Kelemvor investigate Manfried's home alone, making sure that any remnants of the Necronomicon's evil are properly disposed of.

Within a day of the Earl's destruction, something else causes a stir within the city. This time, however, it originates within the Town Hall. A trio of clerks, all of them men, middle-aged to elderly are heard gossiping over drinks in Mayfield's Inn.

"Someone wants to buy the manor already?"

"Yes, and I can't believe it. The place absolutely 'reeks' of death, but some fool still wants to buy it! What was his name, Reginald?"

"Sir Augir Goldberg... or was it Roger... I never heard the name before, honestly, but he had the papers to prove he was noble..."

"Bah! If he's noble, then he has gold! Maybe we can actually make a little profit off of this..."

The group would continue discussing this topic throughout the night, eventually parting ways to return to their homes. It seems that everyone in Kohlingen has a reason to celebrate!

*A public notice can be seen as well*

Quote:
Honored citizens of the Holy City,

The Curse of the Manor is gone with his former owner, Earl Manfried. The grounds of the manor belong to the Holy City now again and the city laws will apply there. Those who are banished from the city, are also banished from the Manor grounds.

Please stay away from the Manor grounds until it is properly secured for public visit.

Sincerely,
Grandmaster Yaston Sylgerand

Karl the Monk has headed out to the Manor since hearing of the changes there. Striding through the cleansed grounds, he still feels goosebumps crop up on his skin at the thoughts of his memories from the Manor before it was emptied of its unholy denizens. As he approaches the building itself and finds the door unlocked and the building still accessible, he steps inside. The darkness still creeps in a way that chills the bones, and he is unable to progress into the hollowed shell of a building without lighting a torch to guide his way.

Moving further into the building, at times tricking himself into thinking he heard a footstep in the shadows or felt some unnatural coldness which would signify the approach of a wraith, Karl nonetheless presses deeper. The source of his determination to see the Manor again is a studious one; having recently discussed the nature of negative energy to attract Undead with a traveling Drow Wizard, Karl is curious to form his own opinions about the hollowed shell before the City closes it down for renovation or something of the likes.

As he turns a corner, however, his blood runs cold as he hears an incontrovertible sound of movement. Though he is not greatly intimidated by the strength of the Undead that previously haunted this empty abode, he still reacts to the presence of unnatural and horrific beings with adrenaline-fueled alarm. But as he turns the corner to investigate the noise that he heard, he sees Yaston of the Triadic Knights.

Having never met the man before, the two conversed some and shared opinions about the place briefly before Karl showed the Triadic Knight to a specific trapped door which was the source of some danger even after the cleansing of the Manor. Talking a bit more and distributing his congratulations regarding the successful extermination of the Undead therein the Manor, Karl then elects to leave the grounds. On his way out, the shadows seem just as long and gelatinous as they did on the way in...

"Perhaps," Karl thinks to himself, "It is simply the nature of places that have seen horrific presences therein to seem gloomier to visitors."

Standing on a hill overlooking the manor, only having heard about it after the fact, a beautiful blonde aasimar in full plate mail, all of it emblazoned with Torm's symbols, patiently explains the history and the need for cleansing to a huge, hulking brute of a man beside her. Though his eyes glow red, he listens patiently, and seems content with the lecture.

Delia, for her part, closed her eyes, remembering something long ago, and once held dear. She felt something like a caged dove fluttering up in her chest, and only stiff resolve clamped down stopped the wail of pain and sorrow before it burst out of her. She straightened her spine and smiled up to Kurgahn, who patted her on the shoulder, knowing only that his new tutor in the Good Guy Ways was hurting, for some reason. Forcing a smile, again, she speaks quietly.
"We endeavour and carry on. We find that which needs cleansing, and we end it.

Now, let's head back to Wiltun. We've got a lot more to do, hm?"

With that, the unlikely "teacher" and "student" turn away, heading back to their home.

*Yaston sucsessfully found the body of Simond and brought it back to the Temple of the Triad's Light where he left the body in the care of Haulfest to prepare it for a proper burial. Later he orders the guards to lower the banners to half-mast to honor the memory of the former priest of the Purity's Refugee.*

Honored Citizens,

The Manor grounds have been completely cleansed. You can now safely visit the grounds of the old manor which caused years of suffering for the farmers of the Holy City.

May the Triad watch over you!

Those who visit the Manor find surveyors from Kohlingen there, making measurements of the estate and wandering the interior to create an itemized damage and repairs report, all with the intent to determine the value of the location. Anyone who asks them about their presence receives a friendly hello and a statement that an arrangement was made with the Goldberg noble family to purchase the grounds, and they are working diligently to determine the actual cost of the Manor.

"There are no living descedants for it to pass to, and so it becomes the property of the city. We deemed it unfit to turn into a spectacle, and Sir Goldberg's offer was well-timed and generous. At first we had the feeling that it was a bit crass, as one man moves into a widow's bed, but after a long conversation with him, we see that he is a man of noble intent and a desire to take the burden of the Manor upon himself. Though it is cleansed of its evil, the place was doomed to have a poor reputation for a long time. Sir Goldberg seems intent on proving otherwise."

*Zammikyra is seen circling the manor from the air once at noonday, then once more before sunset. With her helm on, however, it is nigh impossible to tell if this is her way of taking joy in the event... or if she is looking for something.*
