Come on, don't leave us hanging in Limbo. Let us know whats going on! I know a curve ball has been thrown, but what are the plans moving forward...or not and staying stagnant? Perhaps it would take us a bit to catch up to the curve... but we would have better Haks, CEP, and custom player content than most. Thats Amia's Bread and butter, player Creation options and Dm driving stories. Our player base has been steadily falling, most DM activity is only shown when it comes to requests. I understand RL takes it's Toll. This Cross over is a great chance to redeem the Golden Age. Being silent for the most part does not help us. What's the Dilly yo'?

There was already a response and it has not changed.

We cannot make a decision until we know if all our plugins and everything will work with EE.

So until the game is fully out, tested and everything, there is nothing we can say.

Currently, Amia's biggest advantage over other servers is the huge amount of custom content we have.

If we were to remove it (let us ignore the fact for a second that we can't without rebuilding the entire module, which is pretty much impossible) there is nothing really left that makes Amia Amia.

So until we know we can use EE without blowing the server up, we don't really have much in a way to make a decision.

Once we know if it works with out plugins and the answer is yes, it does, then there is no real reason to not do it though.

I was looking for an official post stating the Dm's stance, and as what's being done. So it's wait and see...sometimes, when you wait and see, things pass you by. I would have been more encouraged to hear were on top of this for the jump to EE. Were exasperating all our options at this moment. A response on another post is one thing, but an Official Dm Team response is another. Were still up in the air as of a Player base as to whats going to happen. Some doors shouldn't be closed. This affects us all.

Again... there is nothing we can do but wait and see. Because if the EE is not compatible with our plugins then we CANNOT update, no matter if we want to.

Yes you are int he air, so are we, because we simply are unable to tell until we know if it works or not.

All i'm saying, we need reassurance. We need details, is our Dm Team in contact with others servers who may have the same problem? Are we trying to work with BeamDog? Are the odds 50/50 we can convert over? Less, More? I would like to be kept in the loop instead of the dark. Can we get an official Dm Post to put to bed our worries? Or receive Vague answers.

So if the crossover is not possible, is the Dm Team willing to let what happens happens, or will there be a push to rebuild Amia from the ground up?

None of us has contact with BeamDog or Sinfar, who would be the main server with the same issues.

If the crossover is not possible, then we won't upgrade to EE, because we can't.

We will see if we can figure out ways to solve the problem, Faded has already agreed to look into it once the time comes.

But there is no need to panic before we even know.

Just out of curiosity would it be feasible or even possible to for want of a better term "clone" Amia and eventually trial this EE stuff whilst leaving the Amia server as it is until testing is complete?

We will test it once it is out, yes.

And because none of them knows either, simple as that. And it may not even be necessary if it works. If it does not, we will see if we can fix it ourselves, if we can't we'll see if someone can help.

Additionally: It is not public knowledge for long at all now that there even is an EE. You behave like we knew this for years and twiddled our thumbs and did nothing when in fact, it has been a few days.

So, here is some of the hopefully not so technical stuff....

We use NWNX to do a lot of the magic that we do behind the scenes. Much of Terra's custom stuff relies on NWNX. We also use stuff like Lua, which for a simple description means that we take stuff outside of NWN do things to it and then inject it back into the game. This lets us do things that NWN was never designed to do, like making areas dynamically load and remove themselves when not used.

Now, accoring to the FAQ for NWNEE they are working closely with the NWNX developers, so there is hope. However, this release could possibly break everything we have, and for a module that has been continuously developed for well over a decade ... that's a lot of things that could break.

There are single scripts we run that are thousands of lines long.... and we have hundreds of scripts...

Like it was already said, we sure will be testing things out when it's released, but honestly there isn't even a release date for this yet. Expecting more than what has been said so far is really expecting too much.

What modules of NWNX do we currently use?

There's a list hiding somewhere in Beamdogs forums that states what modules the NWNX dev team is currently working on.

What parts of our server actually require NWNX beyond Dynamic loading, the job system and hardcoded feat changes (ie Dev crit) does our server use?

They are currently working on nwnx for linux, not much said about windows. The plugins we use will not work on nwn:ee until ways to port them exists or if equal functionality can be made in nwn:ee so they don't even need to be ported.

Regardless, its going to be a lot of work to move to nwn:ee with what Amia has but as of now we don't really know much about the windows side of things.
