Hi everyone , I've been fortunate enough to get a new laptop from a friend but it is Windows 10 I installed NWN on it last night. It won't let me connect to update and the game won't load after pressing play , can anyone please help.. I'm not very tech savvy myself so I'm gonna need the simple breakdown THANK YOU

 Right click on the desktop icon, select run as administrator. Tell me if that helps you at all.

Rift , thank you for the speedy reply , right now I have the game uninstalled cause I was trying to follow some video on YouTube that didn't work , it said something about it having to NOT be in the program file which i think I tried and it wouldn't run at all (guessing I did it wrong)... But when I first realized the problem the first thing I did Rift was change comparability mode to Windows 7 and run as ADMIN and didn't help... I am about to download the game again, where should I put it in? Just keep clicking next or should I change the file location?

What are you DLing it from? I noticed that GoG's new galaxy client caused me no shortage of headaches, and alteration after installation is a soul crushing experience.

I'd compatibility "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" for sure. Add also:
"Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"
That's what I do for Windows 7 at least.

Uh, also just saw you talked about updating the client. That function is long gone, if you don't have 1.69 by default (in other words installed from an older source) you might need the critical rebuild: https://neverwintervault.org/project/nw ... ld-english

Install the 1.69 critical rebuild as a full download from the web first, then the Amia downloads, then run as admin.
The bit about not installing to Program Files means you don't have to run as admin, but that's about the only advantage.
Edit: make sure you're running nwnmain.exe

Disregard that sorry , I misread it and I'm currently downloading the game now than will let everyone know what happens but I'm heading out for an hour so may take little while to get my results back!

Hey everyone so when trying to upgrade with the override from the website I get an error saying can not use this patch with current install of NWN , what do I do! I downloaded the one for Windows with no expansions currently installed is that correct one?

It's currently at 1.66 should I try to find .67 , .68 override than the 9... I've no idea what to do

Roger that downloading it now , do you think when I downloaded the game I should have put it out of the program drive? that's what this video said but I didn't really understand it. Rightt now I have it on Admin mode , running windows xp service pack 3 as suggested and downloaded your suggestion right now , DL time looks like its gonna be a little while. Do any of you currently have windows 10 and playing? To give me hope

yeah
and i strongly encourage you to go through optional downloads. the ACP and heads pack really need to be in 'required' and not 'optional.'
shit just breaks w/o them.

Hey everyone I am up and running on Amia on the new laptop , THANK YOU! one small issue tho , my screen is in like... Theater mode , as in on both sides are smooshed in by two black lines.. Im guessing resolution and I tried with what little I know so I'm hoping we can fix this last problem! Thank again to everyone who helped me get this up and running!

http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Window_modeThis page has relevant info to changing resolutions. I think the black bars inside the menu will always be there to some degree but once you're adventuring it is fine.
