We had a bit of an issue recently in entry when someone claimed they couldn't see someone else's real head. It turns out the head pack has indeed been updated.
If you downloaded the head pack before the HAK was updated, follow the steps below.

This is what you need to do to fix.

Make sure to have the latest Amia Hak.
-AmiaV2_A - D

Download the latest head pack. Make sure its the 7zip file. Extract it into your overrides. Overwrite EVERYTHING. So yes for every dialog, and click "do this for all ###".
http://www.amiaworld.net/files/heads.7z

That will fix the issue.

Khy can verify the issue.

As a side note, for those who downloaded the zip file.

There are -two- files in the zip folder. When you open the zip itself, there's a file labeled heads. Once you open that, there is a second heads folder and four random head files.

Make sure, when you extract everything, to not only extract the four files in the first folder, but -everything- in the second folder.

And, as Selvec said, override -everything-.

Make sure you have -no- subfolders in your overrides, or that's where you missing heads likely are.

Ah, right. As I was told by Machiavelli .... it's safer to simply delete all the old overrides and install the new ones. At least, that's what I did with the ACP, heads, and hands. It all works fine.

As (I think) the player whose "real head" is referred to in this post, I'd just like to encourage everyone to get the proper headpack DL'd, so you can stop pestering me about my ram-horned/anime/chibi demon head which doesn't actually exist. :)

Naw, we were actually testing it on the head I had just recently had changed when I got my self rebuild done. We started hitting up half the server to see if they could see it.

But yes, if you have trouble with the headpack, try the stuff above. If you still have issues, hit up Machiavelli or one of us and we can probably help. It's usually one small thing that can mess your whole headpack up. (Like Khylaria not having all the human heads deleted.)

Oh good.

So, the zip file is fixed. But, I still suggest either deleting everything in your override and just replacing all the files, or making sure you override everything and test it out in game on someone with a new head and make sure it works.

Just a sidequestion.

I can only pick the original NWN heads in character creation and cannot pick any of the new heads, but I can see them in game. Is it supposed to be like that or am I bugged now?

Nope, it's fine. The character creation can't hold all of the heads we've got. So, they're only visible in game or in the toolset. If you see a head you want, you'll need to find the number out and get it changed on your character.

So, new development. Wesley has head pmh_021, or something akin to that. On my screen, his eyes are the same generally flesh-toned hue as the rest of his body. On Ramika's screen, the head shows up as the same general model, but with blue eyes.

I've gutted my overrides and my haks, and replaced them with more recent downloads, to no avail. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this, and what the solution is?

Interestingly, the eyes show up on 16 Meg Compatibility Mode.

So, it seems like the 16 Meg version of that head model/texture/whatever has the tattoo-colored eyes, but the 32 and 64 don't. Might be something to look into, perhaps?

Our characters use the same head and I run on the highest settings possible and I have the eyes appear fine. Its likely your computers video card hates something about NWN at those settings.

Also, last I saw Westley did not have head 21, you changed it to I think 173. Head 21 is default NWN and has never had tintable eyes.

On most of the heads, yeah. The eyes show up. But, for example, the basic male head that Erik (Tarvencia) uses (basic short hair that most people use)? On both our computers, the eye color only shows up in compatibility 16 meg mode. I tested it too. The minute you change the settings, the eye color poofs. And Sakkran's computer is about 5x better than mine.

It's the vanilla 21 head, on my screen. Hrm.

Head 21 is default NWN though. It never was replaced. And how good the computer is means little with this game, if your video card doesn't want to work well with it, it doesn't. Like Multiple Core Processors do not get along well with this game either.

Only way it would be giving you tintable eyes is if Ramika has some pmh0_head21 in her override replacing the default with a tintable version.

Meh. Oh, well. It's just plain weird, then.

BTW, as far as head 173 is concerned, you're thinking about Harrik, rather than Wesley.

Except I don't have a replaced file in there.

When I downloaded the headpack, I made a completely new folder and downloaded Amia's heads into it. There's no other headpack in there. It's still the vanilla NWN head, but it changes from tintable to the normal one depending on what you do with it (compatibility - > tinted, everything else - > not tinted). That wasn't the case until I downloaded the new headpack.

I checked my toolset, almost all of the vanilla heads are like that. They eyes are tinted in 16 compatibility.

Well, I just tried it in game by spying on Sakkran's PC. The only things in my override are the hands/feet and Amia head overrides. Flesh coloured eyes, except when it's set to 16 bit textures. Then they turn blue.

Yeah oops. But yeah I am looking at the head pack too, those ones are replaced with what should be tintable ones. Not sure why they are not working for you. Only thing I can say is your settings. Because the included textures are indeed tintable with tattoo 2 for all the default heads.

Only guess is some reason the textures are only in 16 bit... But when I check them in Explorer they tint just fine. And checking the individual textures with ones that do tint fine and the ones giving problems, and they look to all be 64-bit. =\

Okay I even bothered to go and screw around with my own setting to get the eyes to work in 32 and 64 in compatibility mode. It is clearly something client side. No idea why or how. Its like how we had a time some of us had a black start screen with some of Nvida's drivers.

It is probably something with those heads being the special default, don't try and screw with these heads but I tried it any how to make them tintable. Same as the male helmet heads. (Can't screw with those, you'll get metal textured heads no matter what you do) Best I can say is live with it or play in 16 bit if it is that important. Do not go and mess with your game exe properties and compatibility because that can make your game not work at all. If they work for you great, if not then I am sorry.

If someone else can find working models and textures for these default heads that work, then I can update it. For now though its best I can do.

By chance, what video card/driver revision you using Maht?

I know with the most up-to-date ATI drivers it isn't functioning properly

If possible, I'd suggest a complete reinstall of NWN, and then re-downloading the HAK's and the Overrides.
That way you can eliminate any and all possible problems with NWN. If it fixes, then it was NWN, if it doesn't, then it's your Video Card.

Which I still find silly, as the Video Card shouldn't have any effect on how the textures are displayed in NWN, not in the way they are appearing here. A Video Card setting shouldn't make heads change numbers, or have tats, or anything like that, if the Video Card was bugging it would have things like white/black/green textures. I run a crap load of overrides, over 1GB, easily and don't have that issue. My Video Card is a finicky HD5770 with one of the latest drivers and I don't have any issues at all. Infact, the Driver I'm using is possibly the most stable ATI driver I've used in years, runs all the new games to.

ATI 10.7

Dwagin: I'm running on an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 haven't messed with the drivers since I am on one that works just fine for me right now. I'll check the drivers for sure another time.

Selvec: You misunderstand the issue, its not the videocard or setting changing the color of anything set in game. Its that certain settings are not letting the card and game get along so it displays the new dynamic textures for those default heads. I know you remember the male human "helmet" heads, that no matter what happened the game wanted to always apply the metal textures from the clothes to heads in that number range. That is kinda whats happening now, only its just stuck displaying skin tone color eyes. I bet if back then we switched around settings and such we'd have gotten those heads to display correctly too.

I had the skin color problem a month or two back with one of the heads on a new level 1 character. I remade him and it solved it that way.

No, I understood the issue. But I'm saying it's probably not the video card that's doing it. I can't see a connection, that's not how bugs caused by a video card would appear on NWN. It sounds like more of an Override confliction issue, or just a finicky stupid NWN issue. You know well how silly NWN can be with overrides and stuff. One moment it's fine, next it's got issues, next it works fine again. Weird.

A lot of the times a quick reinstall of the game, with it's overrides, quickly solves the issue.

Not really sure how reinstalling would fix it, as there's several of us experiencing the same thing. It's the files themselves, I'm assuming. Not the end of the world, it's just odd.

Oh, there is more then Sakkren? Well that changes things. Yes I'd assume it's the files. I'm still 95% sure it's not a video card issue however, it just doesn't sound like any type of video card bug I've seen or heard about on NWN.

Nope, not just Sakkran. My computer does it, Paladin tested it, Dwagin tested it ...

Like Maht said, it's probably a file issue. Not a big deal, just weird.

Yes it is odd. I only said its a video card issue because if I go to my settings on the card control setting and tell it to override the games settings I can actually get the eyes to work though it makes the game crash on load up much more often and I have to make Vista run the game in compatibility mode when I normally do not have too.

I'm convinced its not a big enough deal though. Those heads normally never should have been tintable. The only reason your guys test worked is because you have those head files with my attempt to make them tintable from Amia's head pack. Which as we found now, only works in special conditions. =\ They could probably be removed in future releases to make the download smaller or we can possibly find a way to make them work as the rest do.

I don't exactly have the time to add into the head pack at the moment though.

I wouldn't worry about it, honestly. Only reason I even noticed was because I -have- to run in compatibility mode, etc. etc.

Second the bump. Just for emphasis...

If you're seeing characters with a chibi demon head, then your head pack is either glitchy or out of date. Among the purposes of the head pack update was the removal of all the silly monster heads... if your still seeing a silly monster head, Update Your Head Pack.

Add what to your list, exactly? I already updated the post a couple of weeks ago, so it actually points to the current head pack now.

The person that helped me last time is gone and since my file on my PC is a bit..overcrowded I had to download it on my cousins profile then transfer it to my file desktop and place it there. Sorry for being a bother but if anyone could help me with this, send a PM or your MSN and we'll sort it out somehow lol

The zip file will contain a large amount of files. Maybe it will make a new folder when unzipping.
Simply unzip the file, select all the files in it. If the zip file unzips into a folder, select the files in the folder (do not select the folder itself)
Then just copy all the files into the override folder C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\override
Override anything it asks, and you should be ready to go.

If it really won't work. There is a little trick. Get a friend also playing amia to sent you his entire override folder and just replace yours. It's a bit of a loop around, but it will work.
