A notice is tacked up by a speedy, pale human in purple and blue before he quickly bolts out of town en route to parts unknown.

    People of Wharftown,

A method by which the orb of Quintessence that floats above your city can be disposed is now known and has been performed successfully over the township of Guldorand not one tenday ago. By the leave of your officers and mayor, we will perform the same ritual here to see your skies cleared and sanity refreshed. If this is not your wish, or if you wish to see the orb removed by the hands of Wharftown's own friends and kin, I will describe below the process of its removal so that it can be performed safely.

      You will need:

    • Two hundred cubic crates approximately three feet to a side, coated with beeswax or other natural sealant to prevent leaks.
    • Enough sonic magic, spells or effects to cover an area the size of the sphere for at least 10 minutes and possibly as long as half an hour (Evocation spells, ascetic Ki Shout techniques, Bardic Song, the keening of creatures or forms with particularly loud voices such as harpies or the like, very loud instruments).
    • Two hundred castings of the spell "Invoke the Cerulean Sign," whether by hand or from scrolls, or any combination thereof.
    • A plan for the temporary evacuation of your town to another nearby area while the sphere is brought down and put into the crates (this will take about 10-30 minutes).

Once these components are in place, I advise the following steps be taken in order. I do not know what will happen if they are not followed as described.

    1. Move all non-essential personnel to a safe distance as per your evacuation plan.
    2. Clear the area directly underneath the sphere as much as possible. When it comes down it will land with the force of a house of its size made of solid stone, and shatter into many small pieces. Keep this in mind when preparing the area.
    3. Direct very loud sound toward the sphere. It should solidify and become grey before cracking and losing its buoyancy. It should fall to the ground and shatter into many small pieces.
    4. Continue to direct loud sound toward the pieces for as long as is necessary to retrieve all of the chunks and fragments and place them in the prepared boxes. It is absolutely critical that the noise continue during this time, as the Quintessence is only inert when exposed to great noise. If the sound ceases, it will become liquid, infectious and volatile once more within a very short time.
    5. If there is more shattered material than you have boxes to contain it, you may use plain dirt to mix with the pieces on a 1-to-1 ratio. When the Quintessence liquifies, the dirt will render it inert (it will retain its grey coloration and will not become silver again).
    6. Use castings of Invoke the Cerulean Sign to banish the material of each box, individually. Any amount of Quintessence greater than that of a single crate will resist the spell and cause it to fail, but if it is cast on individual boxes at a time this will work.

If you wish assistance in this endeavor, have your leadership send word to the New Moon encampment at the Crouching Lemur grounds and we will see it done.

Another notice joins the first, put up in the dead hours of night.

    People of Wharftown,

On the eighth of Uktar a team of individuals will be bringing down the Quintessence sphere in your town.

The leadership of your town is advised to determine a plan for temporary relocation of the citizenry in case something unexpected happens, and to prevent any harm from coming to anyone from the sphere's descent. By our estimate it should come down right in the crossroads at the center of town, not onto any buildings, which is fortunate.

Any members of the militia or allies thereof capable of being present either during or afterward are welcome, especially if they can conjure the Cerulean Sign.

Take heart, the nightmare will soon be over.

Though the wraithly figure was not often seen, seeming to have tactically planned her hours of activity to correspond with those when most of the residents would be too occupied otherwise to notice and try to interact with her, Ahsra continued to work on making containers. She had set up a sheltered area beside Alanna's residence, quietly laboring away and sparing the worst of the noise for when the Wolf of the Wharf was elsewhere.

Today, Ahsra was out during more sociable hours, hauling one empty crate at a time out from her sheltered work space, in preparation for the noise that would follow.

Once that last of the crates were finished, the smallest Hand of Ieyrn ventured by and spoke with the ascetic. After some logistics about dirt were discussed, the crates were moved outside the eat gate, one at a time, ready to receive shoveled ground from the hills.

Throughout the night following the great clamor and explosion of the Quintessence sphere, Ahsra utilized a portal wand to transport filled crates to Guldorand, small clusters at a time. When the last crate had finally been removed from Wharftown, Ahsra began to transition the creates into the cave mouth of Glinulin's Hold, but not before requesting upon the assistance of guardsman Stan. Near the end of it, Stan was doing most of the work, while Ahsra draped over the barrier fencing, exhausted and covered in sweat from hours of heavy lifting.

Eventually, the crates full of dirt and pieces of the seemingly inert, black pieces of Quintessence had been removed from Wharftown. The same could not be said for the dust and smaller debris scattered throughout the region, however.
