Are all Earth Genasi lawful? Or are their blood ties easier to fight against than an aasimar or tiefling?

They don't have any alignment restrictions per se, but like aasimars trend to good and tieflings tend to evil, it's my understanding that earth and water trend to law and fire and air trend to chaos.

General slow acting and contemplative with the inclination of being lawful.

Slightly off-topic, but not so sure about this? I mean, while the western understanding of the four elements presents earth and water as stable (ish, in water's case) and fire and air as unpredictable, other cultures interpreted them differently. It is also considered customary for a planetouched to inherit the alignment traits of their planar progenitor, which in the case of fire genasi might be the Lawful Evil efreet. Water genasi have the chaotic neutral marids (the sea is a harsh mistress), earthies have Dao (NE - IIRC one of my favourite Earth Genasi PCs on Amia was a bit this way) and while air genasi have the djinn (chaotic good), one could I dunno theoretically inherit the mindset of the lawful Wind Dukes of Aaqa? Bit of a long shot really.

All of this is fairly moot as there are no alignment restrictions on any of them, and Races of Faerun graced all four classes with the beautifully generic Favoured Class: Fighter. I find it helps to consider these angles at least, helps for making more diverse characters.

I did just say trend - yours and my comments don't discount each other.

Well, I originally asked because I had considered making another barbarian, and I was considering using Earth Genasi. Particularly because in their lore, it says something along the lines of their anger being legendary when they are finally pushed far enough. Therefore, I considered a barbarian/WM who utilizes his rage less often than a normal barbarian, because he has to be pushed to a certain degree.

I like that concept, but I don't like the idea of a chaotic earth genasi particularly. So it's one of those things where the concept could work with the race, but the race doesn't lend itself well to the alignment. I don't see any examples of chaotic earth genasi anywhere. In fact, the lore goes so far as to say that earth genasi are basically never chaotic.

I know there aren't any restrictions, but there kind of are if you want to play the race right. So I wasn't sure that the promise of the concept outweighs the slap in the face to the lore. That kind of thing used to matter very little to me, but I guess I'm getting old.

If you want a middle term... Barbarians can be Neutral and still Rage.
