Scribe  CU

Historical background

Scribes played the most important roles in the production of medieval manuscripts. Before the invention of the printing press, scribes were people who copied by hand the original works of authors into books.
Scribes did not live a life of leisure; instead, they took their work very seriously. In fact, they were often punished if they neglected their duties. Below are some skills that most medieval scribes possessed:

* Knowledge of the Latin language
* Excellent eyesight
* Good penmanship
* Ability to read the writing of the person's work that was being copied

Scribes used quills made of goose feathers to write their manuscripts. They also kept pen knives on hand to sharpen the quills when they became dull.

How does it work?

A Scribe can produce empty pages from papyrus, empty books from pages and cotton, and empty tomes from pages and leather. Alternatively the Scribe can change the name or description of any item produced by the Job System. You do this as follows:

* Put an item in the Scribe's Desk
* Type ds_j name Fancy-looking Item
(in the Shout Channel) to change the name of this item to Fancy-looking Item.
* Type ds_j bio An interesting and well-worded item description
(in the Shout Channel) to change the description of this item to An interesting and well-worded item description.
* Type ds_j append Another bit of text here
(in the Shout Channel) to add Another bit of text here to an existing item description. It also adds a line break in between.
* Type ds_j break
(in the Shout Channel) to add a line break at the end of the current description. Useful for taking a new paragraph.

You can only get XP for this once every 2 minutes.
